E3: Day 1 - Ludigames
[ Introduction, Day 1 - ZIO Interactive, Day 1 - Ludigames, Days 2 & 3 ]
The other dedicated PPC game developer at the show is Ludigames who have successfully ported the Ubisoft Gameboy Color title, Rayman, to the PPC.
Before you start incredulously asking, "the Gameboy Color?!?!' First, let me say that this is a very good port (of a very solid game) which actually seems to run a bit smoother than the Gameboy version. Also, comparing it with the only two other side-scrolling platform action games, that I know of, for the PPC (Weeboo and the Japanese title, Ecoco de Fight) This game is much more polished and much larger, and just an overall solid platform game.
Ludigames had an actual running version of the game on an EM-500 at the Ubisoft booth. One of the Ludigames Reps pulled out his iPAQ and showed the game running on that as well, albeit in landscape mode to make room for the virtual buttons. As of now, Ludigames reported that the game will not be available for the Jornada series. Sorry... :(
Rayman in action:
And that's all for now, folks!
For now, this is the only buzz going around at E3 for Pocket PC gaming. There is, however, another PPC gaming developer in town who may be about to announce a new title or two. :) You can be sure that 999 and I are looking into that as I type.
So, in the meantime, enjoy the new images of the upcoming PPC games 999 and I are trying to get you as Mike keeps trying to frantically upload them.
And in the meantime for us, we'll try to get as many pictures of the E3
booth babes as possible and upload those for your viewing pleasure as well! :D
Editor's note:
My thanks to Frank M. Jr and Jason Surguine for their excellent reporting and photography. We'll try and bring you more Pocket PC coverage if any crops up but, if not, then we'll show you some other cool stuff instead! Stay tuned!
Oh, and for those worried that Jason might be taking this trip too seriously...
